Ants are the call we run most in Charlotte, and they are not all the same problem. Odorous house ants trail across kitchen counters and smell faintly of coconut when you crush one. Pavement ants push up through slab cracks and driveway expansion joints. Fire ants build in full sun along driveways, mailboxes and the edges of Bermuda lawns, and they are the ones that put people in urgent care.
Our ant and fire ant program treats the colony, not the trail you can see. We follow the trail back to the nest and use a non-repellent product the workers carry home with them, which is the difference between a colony that dies and a colony that splits and moves. The yard is treated separately from the structure. Pricing follows the square footage of the home and covers exterior yard up to one full acre.
Why ants keep coming back
Most repeat ant calls in Charlotte are not a treatment failure, they are a conducive conditions problem. Mulch piled against the siding, a downspout dumping at the foundation, a dripping hose bib, tree limbs resting on the roofline. We point those out while we are there, because killing a colony without changing what invited it just resets the clock.
Fire ants are their own job. Broadcast bait timed to when the colony is actively foraging does far more than drenching every mound you can see, and a properly treated acre holds a lot longer than spot work.
